What are the contraindications?

The truth is that Ericksonian hypnosis is a state of dissociation. This means that the patient is in two different places (taking into account the experience and reality). Therefore, it is not suitable for people who suffer from psychiatric disorders or dissociative disorders.

Otherwise, this discipline is accessible to everyone. Indeed, a child can attend an Ericksonian hypnosis session if he or she is able to concentrate. It is also possible to work on stress at school, sleep disorders, and bedwetting.

What are the steps of a session?

In principle, the patient must be in a lying position (on a chair). The hypnotherapist stands in front of the person and begins the practice with 4 different phases:


  1. In this first part of Ericksonian hypnosis, the patient must release the tension. To do this, he or she must make a few movements: body awareness and very deep abdominal breathing.
  2. The second part of the session is dedicated to the relaxation of the mind. This generally consists of focusing on memory.

The therapeutic aspect of the discipline

In this stage, the hypnotherapist must ensure that the patient has the opportunity to review all his or her skills. The person must also review his or her resources.
